What is “Chalk Art”?

Chalk Art is the new trend in signage for all types of businesses.  Imported from Australia, this eye-catching art form is now considered the most popular form of signage in the restaurant and cafe trade down under.  Up until recently professional chalkboard art was non-existent in the United States, so you can be guaranteed that your signs will be unique.  Our Chalk Talk artists design each board by hand using only brightly-colored chalks mixed with creative imagination.  The finished artwork jumps off the board and attracts the customers’ attention by displaying your products with a fresh, non-fast food look.

What does it look like?

Our chalkboards are custom-made and cut to any shape or size.  The artwork, headers and lettering are carefully laid out to make it easy for your customers to find and make their selection.  The menu artwork can be drawn in any number of styles, from real-to-life to animated.  Generic back-lit menus with their faded fast food photography are a thing of the past.  Chalk Talk menu boards  promote the idea of hand-made food that is fresh, tasty and healthy.  Our menu boards are entirely hand-crafted, so our talented team of artists are never limited by a computer.  Click on Show Me Some Photos to take a look at some of our work.

But doesn’t chalk rub off?

Not our chalk!  Using a very innovative process, Chalk Talk is able to completely seal the artwork to prevent smudging.  It looks exactly like fresh chalk, yet is impervious to touch.  Of course, if you need to change items on the board we can leave certain areas unsealed to give you the flexibility of a standard chalkboard.  We also make chalkboard strips that adhere with Velcro to the menu board allowing you the flexibility to regularly change any item.  Included with each order is a touch-up kit containing erasers and chalk so that you can write in your daily specials or change prices at a moment’s notice.

How much do they cost?

Our eye-catching blackboards are priced slightly higher than plastic menus with vinyl  lettering yet are  surprisingly less expensive than generic back-lit menu boards.  Since all our work is custom-made we do not have price lists.  We consider each client to be a unique opportunity to design something special.  If you would like us to prepare an estimate for you please fill out our E-Mail Estimate form and send it to us along with your menu text.  You may also fax us at (714) 841-1099.  We can usually return an estimate within two days.
